Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with a strong background in legacy mainframe systems to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, conducting, and directing the analysis of business problems to be solved with automated systems and applications. You will partner with business users to identify, evaluate, and develop cost-effective systems and procedures that meet business requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze and define business problems and identify automated system solutions.
• Collaborate with business users to understand their requirements and recommend system enhancements or new system designs.
• Write functional requirements and specifications for systems to address business needs.
• Review third-party development activities, including providing oversight for development work and reviewing test results.
• Lead the planning and execution of unit, integration, and acceptance testing (UAT) for system implementations.
• Conduct UAT sessions with business users and recommend appropriate implementation strategies.
• Oversee system and application changes, ensuring that they are cost-effective and meet user requirements.
• Work with cross-functional teams to address any business, systems, or application issues that may arise during the analysis and implementation phases.

Required Qualifications:

• Strong legacy mainframe background with experience in systems such as COBOL, Easytrieve, IMS, VSAM, JCL, SQL, and DB2.
• Proven experience writing functional requirements and specifications for automated systems.
• Solid understanding of application functionality and experience working with third-party development teams to recommend solutions.
• Experience with UAT (User Acceptance Testing) and working closely with business users to validate solutions.
• Ability to oversee development activities, ensure quality control, and review test results.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Previous experience leading or working within cross-functional teams to resolve business or system-related challenges.
• Strong understanding of automated system design and implementation strategies.

Note: Actual development work will not be required for this position. The focus will be on analysis, requirements gathering, testing, and oversight of development activities carried out by third-party vendors.
