Who are we looking for?

At the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Aero Bureau, is seeking motivated individuals to inspect, maintain, and repair helicopters. Troubleshoot, gather, and interpret information, and complete forms and make logbook entries.

Additional Bonuses:

Inspection Authorization License issued by the Federal Aviation Administration: If you possess this license, new appointments shall be entitled to additional compensation of 5.5% above the rate of the Helicopter Mechanic classification.

In-Flight Bonus for Sheriff’s Department Helicopter Mechanic classification: Any permanent, full-time employee in the Helicopter Mechanic classification who are assigned to, and regularly perform “in-flight” maintenance check, shall receive a 5.5% bonus.

Job Requirements

REQUIREMENTS :
Three years' (full-time) experience, gained within the last five years, in the repair and maintenance of turbine-powered helicopters such as the AirBus AS350 B2 and/or AS332 L1 Super Puma. One year of the required experience must have been in : Responsible charge of repairs and overhauls to return "certified" helicopters to flight status in compliance with Federal Aviation Administration Regulations and manufacturer requirements - or- Responsible charge of repairs and overhauls to return "non-certified" helicopters to flight status in compliance with manufacturer requirements in either a Department of Defense/U.S. Military or private contractor environment.

LICENSE
A valid Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic's License issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

You must meet the selection requirements for the acceptance of an application. If you do not meet the selection requirements, you will not be allowed to participate in this examination.
