Job Description

Our client is currently seeking a Medical Assistant for a full time opportunity!

Title: Medical Assistant

Location: On-site in Upper Darby, PA (*rotation between locations is required)

Type: Direct Hire

Schedule: Weekdays and every other weekend

Hours: 40hrs/week

This job will have the following responsibilities:

  • Welcomes patients in person or on the telephone, answering or referring inquires.
  • Greets and escorts patient to exam room; prepares patient for provider’s visit by obtaining initial information, vital signs, patient history, test results, and recording information on patient’s EHR
  • Stocks and maintains bathroom and medical stations with adequate supplies.
  • Provides follow-up care as needed through callbacks, reporting on lab tests, calling in prescriptions, and referring complications or problems to physician.
  • Preparing lab specimens, disposing of contaminated supplies; preparing for X-rays; removing sutures; changing dressings
  • Perform Front Desk Associate functions when assigned to this position.
  • Assists with, exams, and sets up for any procedures that have been taught through formal training or by a physician as directed.
  • Routine laboratory procedures, which include but are not limited to - urinalysis, blood glucose if applicable.
  • Inspects, maintain the general appearance, cleanliness, and stock in examination rooms, procedure rooms, and instrument processing room, laboratory area, and prepares exam rooms for cleanliness and equipment condition.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments, maintain diagnostic equipment, troubleshoot breakdowns; maintain supplies; perform preventative maintenance; call for repairs if applicable
  • Prepare and replenish medical supplies, maintain an inventory in a cost-effective, patient and employee-safe manner.
  • Instruct Patients regarding appropriate preparation for certain procedures
  • Performs medical assisting procedures under the supervision of, or as delegated by a physician.
  • Assists colleagues with patient/physician flow in the exam and procedure rooms.
  • Assist physicians with documentation during patient consults.
  • Call for missing reports as required.
  • Completes all paperwork that needs to be filled out prior to a patient being seen by a healthcare provider.
  • Evaluates new patient charts prepared by the front desk.
  • Educates patient by providing medication and diet information and instructions; answering questions.
  • Assists with Pharmaceutical/Product Rep. visits in the event the clinician is not available.
  • Responsible for maintaining drug samples.
  • Assists the MD with pharmacy and patient calls for refills.
  • Generates Revenues by recording billing information for services rendered; completing insurance forms as needed.
  • Assists as needed with researching, compiling, writing, and revising back-office policies, procedures, and protocols
  • Oversight and assist in orientation and training of new M.A.’s and other employees.
  • Complies with all rules, regulations, and procedures of the Practice Compliance Program which includes but is not limited to OIG Program, HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, and any other state, local, or federally mandated regulations that affect a physician’s office.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • 5+ years experience preferred
  • Graduate of medical assisting course
  • Previous clinical physician’s office experience.
  • CPR certified.
  • Skill Experience: Phlebotomy, Immunizations/Injections, Knowledge of assisting providers with procedures, Autoclaving/Sterilization techniques, Some training or experience in the use of computerized filing and basic MS Word functions, Supervisory of Medical Staff, Computer skills, minimum of Windows, Excel, Data Entry., Good typing/word processing, spelling, filing, reception, and other general office skills, Possesses good basic reading, writing, and math skills, Strong interpersonal skills, Reading Comprehension skills, Critical Thinking skills, Coordination skills, Monitoring skills, Service Oriented skills
