Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Merchandise Planner to join our dynamic team. As the Planning Manager, you will play a crucial role in maximizing sales and profitability through effective merchandise planning and inventory management. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including buying, marketing, and operations, to ensure accurate forecasting, timely product availability, and optimal inventory levels. Key Responsibilities

  • Uses sales data and reporting tools for trend forecasting, buy plans and merchandise assortment growth opportunities.
  • Conduct comprehensive analysis of historical data, current trends, and market insights to forecast future sales and demand patterns.
  • Collaborate with the buying team to make suggestions in assortment gaps, product or classification opportunities.
  • Monitor inventory levels and identify opportunities to optimize stock turnover and minimize overstocks or stockouts.
  • Generate accurate sales and inventory reports, highlighting key insights and recommendations for action.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer behavior to anticipate changes in demand and adjust merchandise plans accordingly.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely product availability and resolve any issues related to deliveries or quality.
  • Participate in the development of promotional strategies and markdown plans to maximize sales and minimize markdown costs.
  • This position will report to the VP of Merchandising and will be the team lead in planning, managing one assistant planner and one purchasing assistant
  • We are looking for someone who can implement new processes, bring in new ideas and grow the department and business.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Merchandise Planner or in a similar role within the retail industry.
  • Minimum 3-5 year’s experience in planning
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to analyze complex data sets and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Proficiency in merchandise planning and inventory management systems.
  • Excellent knowledge of retail math and statistical forecasting techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with large sets of data accurately.
  • Solid understanding of retail trends, consumer behavior, and market dynamics.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient to Expert in using Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Experience with Netsuite a big plus
  • Looking for a self-starter – someone who can take direction and run with it
