Job Summary

We’re looking for a highly skilled and meticulous Metallurgist or Materials Engineer to join our team at a prominent machine shop and metal former that specializes in aerospace components. The ideal candidate will possess experience in cold forming and will leverage their expertise in metallurgy to optimize material performance, ensure compliance with aerospace standards, and support the entire manufacturing process, from material selection to final product testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize aerospace components' heat treatment, machining, forming, and finishing processes.
  • Identify and troubleshoot material and process-related issues during manufacturing.
  • Conduct failure analyses, and root-cause investigations to develop quality control procedures for metallurgical properties.
  • Provide metallurgical expertise to support production, R&D, and customer requirements.
  • Evaluate and recommend metals and alloys based on performance and aerospace requirements.
  • Conduct metallurgical analysis and testing to ensure material specifications are met.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements and reduce waste.
  • Stay updated on metallurgical advancements and aerospace material technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or Materials Engineering (or relevant experience).
  • 3–5 years of experience in metallurgical or materials engineering, preferably in aerospace or manufacturing.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of aerospace-grade metals and alloys.
  • Proficiency in metallurgical testing techniques.
  • Familiarity with cold forming, heat treatment, machining, and surface treatments.
  • Proficiency in CAD.
  • Understanding of industry standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex manufacturing drawings.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration.
  • Knowledge of metal production processes.
