Role Overview:

As part of our research and development team you will: develop new products, support existing products, and provide technical support to production and the field. You will be testing products to industry standards, while also having the opportunity to influence standards and specifications within our industry. Production support includes scale-up new products and setting and maintaining quality assurance measures throughout the production process. This role reports to the Research and Development Director.

Qualifications: 

• Physical and Testing Laboratory experience preferred (3-7 years preferable).
• Ability to plan, organize and execute your own tasks for product development and technical support to meet company requirements.
• Broad understanding of production equipment and testing methodology required.
• Ability to prepare test reports utilizing Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Bachelor (BA or BS) degree in a science-related field of study such as Chemistry, Polymer Science or Material Science. 
• Appropriate industrial experience in a related field without a degree will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Accountabilities:

· Project Planning: Can independently plan and manage projects related to technical assignments with limited supervision. Responsible for plan containing objectives and target dates for completion of key activities.Summarizes conclusions in a concise and logical manner.

· Project Activities: Develops laboratory plan for project experiments. Responsible for monitoring and completing the plan. Some supervision still required to ensure plan is consistent with long term goals and objectives.

· Communication: Writes well-organized status and completion reports and can present timely and accurate project updates to a diverse audience as needed. Effective verbal and written skills are mandatory.

· Technical Awareness/Growth: Maintains knowledge skill set in technical area(s) of focus and training. Can be called upon as an expert in limited situations by management to resolve problems or accomplish project activities. Must demonstrate intellectual curiosity in company’s area of technology.

· Problem Solving Ability: Solves problems in area of expertise with minimal management direction; can solve some problems in other business areas with appropriate direction.

· General Laboratory Support: Assists in the development of applicable test methods to characterize existing or experimental products. Makes recommendation to lab management regarding purchase of lab and production equipment.

· External/Internal Relations: Works well within technical and business groups to achieve company objectives as team member. Has established strong external contacts to improve project development and for personal growth. Participates in interdisciplinary project teams with minimal, if any, management guidance.

· Patents and Publications: Demonstrates the ability to develop patentable technology and products if assignments permit. 

· Supervision/Leadership: Can supervise and train technicians and college interns when called upon.

· Laboratory Safety: Supports company policies and procedures to achieve a zero accident and injury rate for the laboratory.
