Job Description

Founded in 2010 and headquartered in Haltom City, Texas, TRP Construction Group is a leading provider of safety-critical and highly regulated roadway marking and traffic control solutions primarily to state and local government end-customers, whom it serves either directly or through general contractors. TRP’s core offering focuses on recurring maintenance projects to maintain the safety of America’s roadways. Position Summary:

TRP is seeking a Senior Accountant with an AP concentration to join its rapidly growing business. The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing and managing the accounts payable function, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in processing vendor payments and financial transactions. This role requires a deep understanding of AP processes, general accounting principles, and financial reporting, as well as the ability to analyze data, implement process improvements, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, the Senior Accountant will assist and participate in monthly divisional P&L reviews. This position reports directly to the Corporate Controller.

Requirements

· Oversee the end-to-end accounts payable process, including invoice processing, payment runs, vendor reconciliations, and month-end closing activities.

· Ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices and payments in accordance with company policies and financial controls.

· Manage and maintain vendor relationships, including responding to inquiries, resolving discrepancies, and negotiating payment terms as needed.

· Review and analyze AP aging reports, ensuring timely payments and minimizing late fees or discrepancies.

· Assist with financial reporting by preparing AP-related journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.

· Monitor compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements, including tax reporting (e.g., 1099s).

· Lead and support process improvement initiatives, including automation and system enhancements for greater efficiency.

· Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries from internal and external auditors.

· Ensure month-end revenues and expenses are fully accrued; major vendor statement reviews; billings reviews.

· Analyze monthly division level P&L statements and identify variances to budget and prior periods; analyze profitability variances of major projects.

· Various accounting and financial analytical requests from Company management.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

· Experience having responsibility for accrual-based accounting month end close processes

· Strong knowledge of GAAP, AP best practices, and accrual-based accounting

· High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office programs

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

· Organized and detail oriented

· Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

· Strong work ethic and ability to be flexible and multi-task

· Self-motivated individual who strives for excellence in their work product

· Willingness to occasionally travel to regional division offices

· High level of proficiency in QuickBooks Enterprise a plus

· Experience with NetSuite is a plus

Education and Experience:

 

· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field preferred

· Minimum 3-5 years of work experience in accounting

· Experience in highway construction or general contracting a plus

· Strong communication skills both oral and written

· Ability to work with minimal supervision
