FISBA NORTH AMERICA / SENIOR OPTICAL ASSEMBLY TECHNICIAN / SACO, ME

We are working with our client FISBA North America in seeking a Senior Optical Assembly Technician to work from their Saco, Maine production facility. FISBA specializes in the design and manufacturing of medical endoscopes and life science applications, and this position will assemble precision micro-optics and endoscope components. This is a first shift position in a professional production environment.

Requirements of the Senior Optical Assembly Technician:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or technical certification in a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in precision assembly, preferably in optics, photonics, aerospace, or a related high-tech industry.
  • Proficient at working with small parts under a stereo microscope. Experience with assembly with fits of +/- 0.01 mm.
  • Proven experience working in cleanroom environments and adhering to strict protocols.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and general data entry.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical assembly principles, tolerances, and fits.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Excellent manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex assembly issues.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience with optical alignment and testing procedures is a significant plus.
  • Experience with epoxy bonding and other adhesive techniques is beneficial.
  • Ability to work onsite M-F. Hours are generally 8:00 to 4:30, but there may be some flexibility in start time.

Pay and Benefits:

  • First Shift hours: 8am – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday.
  • Pay range starts at $25 per hour.

Responsibilities of the Senior Optical Assembly Technician:

  • Perform complex assembly, integration, and alignment of optical and mechanical components according to detailed drawings, procedures, and specifications.
  • Work in cleanroom environments, adhering to strict contamination control protocols.
  • Use precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, interferometers) to verify component dimensions and assembly tolerances.
  • Troubleshoot assembly issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and other technicians to ensure seamless integration of components and systems.
  • Develop and improve assembly procedures and work instructions.
  • Train and mentor junior assembly technicians.
  • Maintain accurate records of assembly processes and test results.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance assembly efficiency and quality.
  • Maintain and calibrate assembly tools and equipment.
  • Perform functional testing of assembled systems and document results.
